John Hartman
CHAIRMAN

John Hartman is the Chief Executive Officer of Tattarang and the Minderoo Foundation.
He was previously Chief Investment Officer of Tattarang and Minderoo Foundation, holding the role since 2012.
As CEO of Tattarang, John oversees one of Australia’s largest and most diverse private investment groups. It has more than $35bn of assets under management across a range of sectors including agri – food, energy, resources, property and health – tech. John holds a number of board positions, including Chairman of Squadron Energy, Wyloo Metals and R.M. Williams.
Minderoo Foundation is proudly Australian, independent and takes on tough, persistent issues with the potential to drive massive change. It incubates ideas, advocates for systems change and accelerates impact. Minderoo Foundation seeks effective, scalable solutions across our focus areas of uplifting communities, advancing gender and equality, protecting the ocean and responding to emerging challenges.

Luca Giacovazzi is the Chief Executive Officer of Wyloo, which manages a diverse portfolio of production assets, projects, exploration growth opportunities and cornerstone investments in Australia and Canada.
Luca is committed to enabling a safe supply of high-grade critical materials, from extraction to processing, using the highest standards of environmental sustainability and in partnership with local and First Nation communities.
Luca was previously at Credit Suisse, where he successfully completed numerous metals and mining transactions in Australia and internationally.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Chartered Accounting) from the University of Johannesburg, a Master of Management from the University of Sydney and a Master of International Management from the London School of Economics (CEMS).

Mr. Harvey has more than 35 years of experience in the resources sectors in Australia, Africa and the Americas. He held group executive roles over six years as a foundation member of the leadership team at South32, including Chief Operating Officer and Chief Transformation Officer. During his 28 years with BHP, his roles included President Nickel West, President Ekati Diamonds and Vice President roles across strategy, planning, growth and improvement at Olympic Dam. Mr Harvey’s deep operational and project development experience includes accountability for the world’s largest global manganese business, base metals operations in Australia and South America, large underground coal for steel operations and all technical and project functions.
Mr Harvey holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) from the Western Australian School of Mines, is a fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, graduate of the Kellogg Executive Development Program and graduate and member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Jason is the General Counsel of The Minderoo Foundation and Tattarang group of companies and is an FAICD.
Prior to joining Minderoo and Tattarang, Jason was at Herbert Smith Freehills for 30 years, 24 of those as a partner specialising in infrastructure projects in the water, power, health and transport sectors.
During that time, Jason was a member of the Board of Freehills that oversaw the global merger with UK firm Herbert Smith, and sat on the Global Executive of the merged Herbert Smith Freehills with responsibility for leading the Australian Region, and then leading the firm’s global Finance, Real Estate, Projects and Latin American business.

Sybil Veenman

Ms. Veenman has more than 25 years of mining industry experience, both as a public company Director and as a senior executive. She currently serves as a Director of Royal Gold Inc., NexGen Energy Ltd. and Major Drilling Group International Inc. Ms Veenman was formerly a director of Noront Resources Ltd. from August 2015 to February 2020 and was a special advisor to the Noront Board from February 2020 until it was acquired by Wyloo Metals in April 2022. Previously, she was General Counsel and member of the executive leadership team at
Barrick Gold Corporation, a large international gold mining company. In that capacity, she was responsible for the management of legal affairs, and was extensively engaged in the company’s mergers and acquisitions and financing transactions, as well as a wide range of operational, regulatory, political and social aspects of the business.
Ms. Veenman holds a law degree from the University of Toronto and has obtained the Institute of Corporate Directors, Director (ICD.D) designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
